Impax Asset Management came to Denton with a brief to create a new home in the LSQ building at 30 Panton Street. Having relocated from sleepy St James’ Square, the move to this landmark building in the heart of bustling Leicester Square the design needed to be carried out sympathetically. As a world leader in investing in the sustainable global economy, Impax’s offices needed to focus on receiving clients and investors on the one hand, whilst providing a welcoming and comfortable home for the staff.

The reception greets guests with a clean and clear focus whilst showing the comings and goings of the office through the opaque glass behind.  Warm woods take the client on a journey to the meeting suite providing the impression of quality with clean and understated design.  The meeting rooms are designed to make the most of the unfettered views whilst maintaining the utmost acoustic privacy.  Flexibility was key and this has been introduced using sliding folding acoustic walls to allow Impax to present to clients in various formats.  Hidden storage and catering prep space allows guests to be serviced unobtrusively.  The front of house suggests the perfect union of form and function.


The back of house areas are focussed on creating flexible work areas for the individual teams with lots of spaces that quiet work can be carried out.  The back of house was given the best views south over Westminster reinforcing the importance that Impax place on their staff.   Teams can meet and work in quiet pods together or individually.  This spills over into a large break out space that gives many different modes of seating from high benches to acoustic pods to small individual comfortable chairs.  Power is integrated into the furniture to make it truly multifunctional.  One end of this space can be closed off as an anteroom for client functions.

Above all sustainability was placed at the heart of this design.  All products have been carefully considered and where a decision could be made to elevate the sustainable credentials of the office, it was!  The feedback has been all positive so we know we have done a great job!
